Industry Details
My expertise lies primarily in the legal side of mortgages. Having spent years handling completions and working closely with solicitors, I have an in-depth understanding of their processes, timelines, and requirements. While any legal matters must be addressed directly with the solicitor, I’m always happy to offer insight where I can. My colleagues often joke that I’m like a bulldog—I don’t let go of anything until it’s resolved!
Professional Experience
- Current Role:
As a Client Support Manager, my job is to guide clients through the mortgage process from application to completion—whether that’s picking up the keys to a new home or finalising a remortgage. Buying a home can be stressful, especially for first-time buyers, so my role is to take the pressure off by handling communication with lenders, estate agents, and solicitors. A lot of the work happens behind the scenes, but it all ensures a smoother, more efficient process.
- Previous Roles: Before joining YesCanDo, I spent nine years as a Completions Manager at another mortgage brokerage, where I developed extensive knowledge of the legal side of the mortgage process. Prior to that, I worked for another broker in a similar role and, earlier in my career, I supported financial advisers, covering all aspects of financial planning—not just mortgages. My background also includes personal lines insurance, so I know a thing or two about home insurance as well!
Questions & Answers
How did you get into mortgages?
I didn’t choose mortgages—mortgages chose me! While arranging my own mortgage, I visited the packaging company handling my application and asked if they had any part-time evening roles. As luck would have it, they did, and I’ve never looked back!
What do you love most about your job?
The most rewarding part is helping people who thought they had no chance of getting a mortgage finally secure their home. Seeing a client pick up their keys after overcoming challenges makes all the hard work worth it.
How do you work with new clients?
Once your adviser submits your application, I take over to guide you through to completion. I’ll introduce myself, and from that point on, I’m your main contact for any questions or concerns. No question is too small—if something’s on your mind, just ask!
